This report summarizes discussions during a meeting of representatives from the contracted vessel fleet. Attendees discussed program health and port-specific concerns.
Contracted vessels would be an essential part of a response if an oil spill were to occur again in the Prince William Sound region. These vessels (predominantly commercial fishing vessels) are anticipated to do everything from oil recovery to tasks such as crew transport, wildlife hazing, sensitive area protection, and other needs. The vessels are based out of six regional ports: Valdez, Cordova, Whittier, Seward, Homer, and Kodiak.
