Looking for more free education materials? Below is a collection of recommended resources on environmental, oil spill, and energy-related topics for educators in the Exxon Valdez oil spill region, across Alaska, and beyond.

Alaska EnergySmart Lessons: Lesson to increase energy literacy in youth including understanding of economic and environmental costs.

Alaska Resource Education Curriculum: Lessons to inspire and educate students about Alaska’s resources. Topics include energy, mining, and forestry.

BLM’s Campbell Creek Science Center:

  • Watershed Wonders Curriculum: Lessons for 4th-6th grade. This is a place-based watershed curriculum comprised of 30-60 minute lessons with interactive activities, informational videos, virtual science labs, and hands-on reflections.
  • Nature Learning Resources: These simple outdoor activities for all ages help connect you to your local ecosystems.

Center for Alaskan Coastal Studies Resources for Educators: These activity guides and curricula cover a variety of hands-on environmental and marine topics for a variety of age groups.

Climate Literacy and Energy Awareness Network Lessons & Resources: This searchable database includes lessons on climate and energy for K-12 and college students.

Prince William Sound Science Center:

  • Ocean and Oil Spill Technologies: A seven-lesson unit covering arctic ocean science, oil spills, and oil spill clean up including a remote operated vehicle engineering activity.
  • Ocean Monitoring: A three-lesson unit covering ocean science, ecosystems, ocean acidification, and climate change.

Children of the Spills: Lesson plans designed for use in areas affected by oil spills and activities designed for use in any coastal area and can be adjusted to your community.
